Funeral in Arlington Cemetery

This post is in sharp contrast to the last “happy” photo. This photo is from a family funeral about two weeks ago. It was for my wife’s grandparents. I questioned if this was too personal a photo to share, but I really like this photo. Though this was a sad event, it was a really nice moment for the whole family to come together. My uncle-in-law asked me to take a few photos, and I’m happy that I could make a nice one. The light was beautiful, and I worked just a little bit on the subtle color palette. The hardest part was finding a nice perspective and waiting for the flag. This is one of those times that being a photographer allows me to step away and be a part of the event without really being a part of it. Click the photo to see it a little larger.
